# Borrow quote methods

> Quote methods paired with each Borrow operation and their return shapes

Each Borrow operation has a paired quote method that returns the expected
outcome without submitting a transaction. Use quotes to display expected values
and the resulting health factor to your users before they sign.

| Operation | Quote method | Returns |
| - | - | - |
| `borrow` | `getBorrowQuote` | Collateral to pull, USDC to deliver, current `borrowApy`, fees, gas fees, and the position's resulting health fields. |
| `addCollateral` | `getAddCollateralQuote` | Collateral to add, fees, gas fees, and resulting health fields. |
| `repay` | `getRepayQuote` | Gas fees and resulting health fields. |
| `closeLoan` | `getCloseLoanQuote` | USDC required for the payoff including the slippage buffer, collateral returned, fees, gas fees, and resulting health fields. |
| `withdrawCollateralRepayIfNeeded` | `getWithdrawCollateralRepayIfNeededQuote` | Collateral released, USDC needed for the repay leg, fees, gas fees, and resulting health fields. |

Two additional helpers size a borrow before you know exactly what you want:

| Helper | Returns |
| - | - |
| `getRequiredCollateral` | The cirBTC amount needed to reach a target health factor for a given borrow amount, plus resulting fields. |
| `getMaxBorrow` | The largest borrow a collateral amount supports in a market, plus resulting fields. |

None of these methods takes an adapter or produces a signature, so they are safe
to call while a user is still choosing an amount. Every returned quote is a
snapshot. The operation itself prices again at execution.

For example calls for each quote method, see
